The Chaplet to St. Joseph is composed of fifteen sets of beads, each containing three purple beads and one white. The white beads represent his purity, and the purple beads, his saintly piety.
For our interpretation of this chaplet, we used a very unusual stone, Lepidolite, for the purple beads. Each 8mm Lepidolite bead is capped with a vermeil daisy spacer on each side. For the white beads, I used exquisitely carved 10mm quartz crystal, capped with vermeil bead caps and 3mm mother of pearl beads.
The entire chaplet is wire-wrapped with gold-filled wire. Instead of chain between the groups, I made wire-wrapped links with a 3mm mother-of-pearl bead in the center of each link. There are a total of 33 of these links, plus 60 prayer beads, so in reality I wire-wrapped 93 beads on this chaplet - far more than on a wire-wrapped rosary!
The sterling silver centerpiece, gold-plated with real gold to match the wire and vermeil, has three circles, like the symbol of the Trinity. The medal is also sterling silver, plated with genuine gold. It has a lily one one side and St. Joseph on the other. The lily is a popular symbol for St. Joseph.
