water lily: Any of various aquatic plants with broad floating leaves and showy, variously colored flowers. The divider beads on this komvoschinion bear paintings of water lilies, with a background of light blue like the water beneath the flowers. The 6mm prayer beads themselves are a watery light blue quartz. The water theme is continued with clear seed beeds between the prayer beads. The faithful Christian is like a water lily - floating upon the waters of Baptism, deriving support from the Holy Spirit who empowers those waters. As we thrive from the spiritual nutrients given to us in our Baptism, we grow into beautiful flowers, and the flower develops fruit. The flowers of all plants bear fruit, sometimes not the kind of fruit that we eat, but always bearing the seeds of future plants. The fuit of the water lily flower is the seeds of future water lilies. By following the advice of St. Augustine, we "preach always, and sometimes speak" with our beautiful spiritual flowers, sowing seeds in the hearts of others and inviting them to join us in the waters of Baptism. The dividers are capped with dark blue 4mm glass pearls, and the stone cross is a matching lapis blue. |  |
