< Most English translations of the Bible do not contain the word "copper". However, there a few verses that contain a word that most accurately translates as "copper" but is usually translated "bronze" or "brass". The reason for this translation is that the Biblical time period actually preferred using copper alloys instead of pure copper. Bronze and brass are both mostly copper, with a small amount of other metals such as tin or zinc to make a stronger metal. This chotki is made in honor of the Gentiles that were integrated into the Church. By becoming Christians, the Gentiles, represented here by the copper, became mixed with the much smaller Hebrew race, making a strong alloy in the Christian Church. This strength has grown to world-wide proportions! The chotki is made of 6mm copper prayer beads, divided by black seed beads. 10mm black Czech firepolished glass divider beads are capped with copper-finished pewter bead caps and 4mm black Czech druk beads. The chotki is completed with a copper-finished pewter cross. |  |
