The 8mm prayer beads on this 41-bead mequteria are made of 'silver leaf jasper,' a stone which isn't really silvery at all, but shades of gray and black. The cylindrical 4mm hemalyke beads that separate the prayer beads, however, are indeed silvery dark gray. (In keeping with our one-of-a-kind policy on our artisan pieces, the separator beads, and the cross, are different than what was used on the previously sold mequteria by the same name.) This mequteria honors David's humble work as shepherd before becoming king. He quietly went about his business, building a deep and solid relationship with God in the solitude of shepherding, but taking the time to cleanly and efficiently kill any ferocious predators that threatened his sheep. He applied that experience to the rest of his life: first by bravely fighting the giant Goliath when all others turned away, then by watching over all of Israel - God's sheep - as their king. The cross is a dark gray metal, not an expensive precious metal, to symbolize David's humble beginning as a shepherd, yet has a gold-tone 'X' where the horizontal and vertical bars of the cross meet, symbolizing the kingship which would crown his humility. Honoring David, a man after God's own heart, this very masculine mequteria is a wonderful gift for a strong Christian man to use in praying the Jesus Prayer and building his own strong relationship with God.
