Wrist Chotki in one-size-fits-all styles

These chotki attempt to blend the concept of the standard black wool knotted wrist chotki with the popular rosary bracelet. Woolen wrist chotki can be stretched to fit over the hand, then lie gently at the base of the wrist. Some of our beads are strung on an elastic cord to imitate the knotted wool chotki, and others are strung on memory wire. Memory wire is a strong, coiled steel wire that "remembers" its shape. You can open it to put it over your hand, then let it close around your wrist. This gives it a self-adjusting size so that it fits just about any wrist from small to large.

Children's Sizes
These smaller wrist chotki are strung on elastic cord, to be stretched over the hand and fit on a small wrist. Be sure to measure the diameter of your child's wrist before purchasing a wrist chotki, as each of these are a slightly different size. I have provided the size indicated by my bracelet sizer, but I find that on adult sizes the actual size of the wrist chotki seems to be approximately 1/4" larger than indicated by my bracelet sizer. So, an adult with a wrist 1/4" to 1/2" larger than the bracelet sizer still can wear the stretchy wrist chotki without discomfort, or a wrist chotki 1/4" to 1/2" larger than their wrist without the chotki falling off their hand. Because children's hands are smaller, I presume that a wrist chotki sized 1/4" smaller or larger than the child's wrist should still fit without being too tight or too loose.

Note: please use discretion in providing these to young children - children under the age of 3, for example, should not wear one of these wrist chotki, as they might chew through the stringing material and swallow the beads. Children 3-7 should be supervised with these wrist chotki until you are confident that they will not harm themselves with them.

Standard Wrist Chotki

The wood wrist chotki are strung on elastic cord, to be stretched over the hand and fit on the wrist. The Publican wrist chotki is available in two styles; one strung on elastic cord and the other strung on memory wire.

Czech Hardwood or Bethlehem Olivewood
This chotki is made of 33 small prayer beads and 1 spacer bead. The spacer bead is made of olivewood in your choice of a cross or a carved oval bead. The prayer beads are your choice of Czech hardwood in maple brown or light brown, or Bethlehem olivewood. It is strung on a strong flexible stringing material so that it can be stretched to fit over the hand and then relaxed to lie gently at the base of the wrist.

The Jesus Prayer is based on the prayer of the Publican. This chotki was originally designed with Confession in mind. We are to come to the Mystery of Reconciliation in the spirit of the Publican - humility and contrition.
Made of 6mm onyx glass prayer beads, a black onyx stone cross, and red glass accent beads, this chotki reminds us that the blackness of our sins caused the blood of Jesus to flow.

St. Patrick's Vision Wrist Chotki

It is recorded that when St. Patrick and St. Brigid were united in their last prayer, a special vision was shown to him. He saw the whole of Ireland lit up with the brightest rays of Divine Faith. This continued for centuries, and then clouds gathered around the devoted island, and, little by little, the religious glory faded away, until, in the course of centuries, it was only in the remotest valleys that some glimmer of its light remained. St. Patrick prayed that the light would never be extinguished, and, as he prayed, the angel came to him and said: "Fear not: your apostolate shall never cease." As he thus prayed, the glimmering light grew in brightness, and ceased not until once more all the hills and valleys of Ireland were lit up in their pristine splendour, and then the angel announced to St. Patrick: "Such shall be the abiding splendour of Divine truth in Ireland."

This wrist chotki was designed to express St. Patrick's beautiful vision. The gleaming two-tone Czech Firepolished beads are difficult to manufacture, just as it is difficult to maintain our faith while we live in this sinful world. These particular beads are green and crystal: green for Ireland, and crystal for the "rays of Divine Faith" that St. Patrick saw lighting up the island. Some of the beads are mostly crystal while other beads are mostly green; this represents how the light of faith fluctuated in the vision.

Further depicting the vision, the rest of the wrist chotki is accented with gold, to represent "the abiding splendor of Divine truth". The wrist chotki is strung on gold-colored memory wire capped with gold end caps, and divided in the center with a gold-finished pewter Celtic knot bead. Gold-colored seed beads between the prayer beads carry the golden motif throughout the wrist chotki.

Limited Edition Glass Pearl Wrist Chotki
Made of 6mm Czech glass pearls, these wrist chotki are finished with a pewter cube that bears crosses all the way around. They are strung on stretch elastic. These are 'limited edition' because I do not plan to purchase more of these pearls, so when they are gone, they are gone! Several available in light blue; only 2 are available in pink and there are none left in lavender.
